Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods are the most popular sports couple in the world at the moment, but don't hold your breath waiting for the relationship to lead to a wedding. Says who? Says Lindsey Vonn in a Vogue story that will be released Wednesday.
When writer Jonathan Van Meter asks Vonn if marriage will ever be in the cards for her again, she is emphatic with her response: "No, thanks! I am definitely not getting married. To anyone."
Vonn, whose divorce from her former husband (and coach) became official in January, says she has no regrets about the experience. "Honestly, I wouldn't take anything back," she tells Vogue. "I wouldn't change being married. It was good for me and I was happy for a period of time, and I learned a lot about myself."
You can expect to see plenty of Vonn on TV this week as Woods competes in the British Open. The two met in 2012 at charity function. "We immediately clicked, you know?" Vonn says. "It was just one of those things."
Vonn and Woods revealed that they were dating with posts on their Facebook page on March 18. On the surface, it seemed like a puzzling pairing. But Van Meter writes that the two share some compelling family dynamics:
"Tiger’s fame is obviously in the extreme, the amount of scrutiny that he's constantly under,” Vonn says. "But that's the thing: It all comes back to being happy. It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks; do what you love to do and be happy and that's it."
Vonn's schedule will pick up this fall as she prepares for the Winter Olympics. She tore up her right knee in February when she crashed at the world championships in Austria, and she knows that might create a psychological hurdle.
"I mean, I'm hoping that it won’t affect me," she says. "But I foresee that maybe if conditions are bad, like they were when I crashed, I might have more hesitation than I normally would."
